Overview
BSF Communication Set-up (Year 2025): Direct & Departmental Recruitment for Head Constable (Radio Operator) and Head Constable (Radio Mechanic). Posts are initially temporary but likely to be made permanent. All-India liability; service governed by the BSF Act & Rules. BSF strives for gender balance — women candidates are encouraged to apply.

Vacancies may vary due to administrative reasons. 10% of 75% Direct Recruitment vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen; 5% for Compassionate Appointment. Unfilled ESM/CA/Departmental slots may be transferred within respective quotas.
Eligibility Conditions
Head Constable (Radio Operator)
- Option 1: 12th/Intermediate with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) with 60% aggregate.
- Option 2: Matriculation + 2-year ITI in Radio & Television / Electronics / COPA / DPCS / General Electronics / Data Entry Operator.
Head Constable (Radio Mechanic)
- Option 1: 12th/Intermediate with PCM with 60% aggregate.
- Option 2: Matriculation + 2-year ITI in Radio & Television / General Electronics / Electrician / Fitter / IT & ESM / Communication Equipment Maintenance / Computer Hardware / Network Technician / Mechatronics / Data Entry Operator.
Only regular students from recognized Boards/Institutes are eligible. Refer notification for exact trade codes and equivalence.
- UR / EWS: 18 to 25 years
- OBC: 18 to 28 years
- SC / ST: 18 to 30 years
Upper age relaxation and category claims are subject to Government of India rules and valid certificates.
- LDCE (BSF GD/Tradesmen): Minimum 3 years service as on closing date; NOC, Discipline & Vigilance clearance by last date; clean service record with minimum “Good” APAR for last 5 years and no major/minor punishment till offer of appointment; service certificate indicating length of service in present rank.
- Govt Employees (non-BSF): Must have NOC and D&V clearance by closing date.
- Preference: Candidates can opt for HC(RO), HC(RM) or both; order of preference must be set in the application. No change later.
Selection Process
First Phase — PST & PET (via RFID)
- Admit cards released ~3 days before exam.
- Qualify PST/PET to appear in CBT.
- Exact standards as per BSF norms (Height/Chest/Weight & events).
Second Phase — Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Language: English & Hindi
- Total Marks: 200
- Suggested Pattern: Physics (40), Chemistry (20), Mathematics (20), English & GK (20)
- Answer key objection window opens post-CBT; results on the portal.
Firm dates will be mentioned on the e-Admit Card and the recruitment portal.
Third Phase — DV, Skill/Language (RO only), DME/RME
- Document Verification: Mandatory; disqualified candidates won’t proceed further.
- For HC(RO) only: Dictation Test (50 marks) + Paragraph Reading (qualifying).
- Medical: Detailed & Review Medical Examination as per BSF standards.
Final Merit
- HC(RO): CBT (200) + Dictation (50) = 250 marks (Paragraph Reading is qualifying).
- HC(RM): CBT marks out of 200.
Tie-breakers: higher total marks; older age; alphabetical order of first name; higher aggregate in PCM (12th); for Matric+ITI, higher aggregate in Maths & Science; reserved candidates selected on merit without relaxation are placed in UR merit.

- Register using a valid email ID and mobile number.
- Fill the application form carefully and set your post preference (HC-RO / HC-RM / both).
- Upload photo, signature, and relevant certificates in the prescribed format.
- Pay the application fee (if applicable).
- Submit and download/print the confirmation page.
All updates/notifications, answer keys, and results will be published on rectt.bsf.gov.in and bsf.gov.in.
Important Notes
- BSF may change the recruitment sequence, cancel or postpone the process without assigning reasons.
- Objection window for CBT responses will open post-exam; login with registered credentials to view answer key and submit objections.
- Separate merit lists for HC(RO) and HC(RM); separate list for Compassionate Appointment for DG BSF approval.
- No waiting list will be maintained.
- All posts carry All-India liability and may involve postings in border areas and abroad.
