Overview of the Recruitment
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through the Office of the Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), invites applications from serving Male and Female Combatised Constables (Tradesmen and Orderlies) for the post of Constable (General Duty) through remusteration. A total of 98 vacancies are available for the recruitment years 2023, 2024, and 2025.
This special recruitment is open to existing SSB personnel working in trades such as Tailor, Cobbler, Cook, Barber, Washerman, Safaiwala, Gardener, Water Carrier, Waiter, and Helper, as well as Constable (Orderlies) with 3 years of regular service.

Eligibility Criteria
- Only serving Constables (Tradesmen & Orderlies) in SSB can apply.
- Service Requirement: Minimum 3 years of regular service as of:
- 01.01.2023 for 2023 vacancies
- 01.01.2024 for 2024 vacancies
- 01.01.2025 for 2025 vacancies
- Educational Qualification: Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized board.
- Medical Category: SHAPE-I
- Service Record: Clean service record in the preceding 3 years for each respective vacancy year.
- APAR Grades: Satisfactory for relevant years:
- For 2023: 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22
- For 2024: 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23
- For 2025: 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24
Age Limit
The maximum age limit is below 35 years for UR and OBC categories as of 01 January of the respective vacancy year.
Relaxation: SC/ST candidates are eligible for 5 years age relaxation.
Recruitment Process
1. Physical Standard Test (PST)
All shortlisted candidates will undergo PST. Biometric verification will be done before the test.
