Vacancies & Reservation Notes


Important: Horizontal reservation applies for categories like Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as per rules. Category-wise roster, including women (GEN-WE), widow (WD), divorcee (DV), etc., will be implemented. If suitable candidates of a reserved category are not available in a particular year, carry-forward and interchange provisions will apply as per the Regulations and State rules.

The notification provides detailed horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen and PwBD sub-categories, including:

  • PwBD: (i) Blind/Low Vision — 1 post notified horizontally; (ii) Deaf/Hard of Hearing; (iii) Locomotor Disability including CP & Others; (iv) Intellectual Disability/Mental Illness/SLD/Autism/Multiple Disabilities — as per roster and suitability.
  • Ex-Servicemen: Category-wise horizontal reservation; carry-forward rules apply if suitable candidates are unavailable in a given year.
Rajasthan Domicile: Reservation benefits for SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS and Ex-Servicemen are available only to Rajasthan domiciles. Applicants from other States must apply under the General (UR) category. As per court rulings, women from outside Rajasthan who become residents by marriage are not entitled to SC/ST/OBC/MBC reservation in Rajasthan public employment; they should apply as General.

Eligibility Criteria


Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in Law from a University established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification declared by the Government.
  • Working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script.
  • Knowledge of Rajasthani Culture.

Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying law degree may apply; however, they must produce proof of having acquired the qualification before the start of interview process (i.e., before the first day of interviews).

Submitting false information or failing to withdraw the application despite ineligibility is punishable under Section 217 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS). If found ineligible during counselling/verification/interview, the application will be cancelled and the candidate may be debarred from recruitment examinations for three years.

Age Limit & Relaxations (as on 01 January 2026)


Minimum: 21 years  |  Maximum: 40 years

Note: Retirement age for Government servants in Rajasthan is 60 years; hence, on the date of appointment a candidate must not have crossed 60 years.

Vertical/Category-based Relaxations
  • SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS (Male) of Rajasthan: +5 years
  • SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS (Female) of Rajasthan: +10 years
  • General (UR) Women: +5 years
  • Widows & Divorcee women: No upper age limit (subject to prescribed proof)
Other Relaxations & Special Cases
  • Ex-prisoners: Relaxation equal to the period of imprisonment, subject to conditions; not applicable if over-age before conviction.
  • Temporary appointees on JDA/State posts: Deemed within age limit if within limit at initial appointment; up to two chances allowed.
  • NCC Cadet Instructors: Relaxation equal to NCC service (resultant age ≤ max age + 3 years).
  • 1971 Indo-Pak repatriates: No age limit.
  • Released ECOs/SSCOs: Deemed within age limit if within limit at joining commission in Army.
  • Persons serving substantively in State/PSUs/Zila Parishads/Panchayat Samitis: Upper age limit 40 years.
  • Reservists/Ex-Servicemen: Upper age limit 50 years.
  • PwBD (benchmark disabilities): Additional +5 years over and above other applicable relaxations.

Relaxations (points 1–12) are non-cumulative—only one can be availed. PwBD can avail the additional +5 years thereafter.

Pay Matrix & Probation


Pay Matrix Level L-10 (Grade Pay ₹3600). During the probation period, fixed monthly remuneration will be admissible as per Government of Rajasthan (GoR) rules.

Selection Process


  1. Written Examination (Objective type) — four papers; scaling/moderation/normalization may be applied if required.
  2. Interview (Viva-Voce) — Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks as fixed by the Commission will be called. Interview marks shall not exceed 10% of total written marks (i.e., up to 20 marks).
  3. Final Merit will be prepared on the sum of Written + Interview marks; names of suitable candidates will be recommended to the Appointing Authority as per merit.

Paper I: Constitution of India
  • Nature and salient features of the Constitution; Preamble; Union & State structure.
  • Fundamental Rights, their scope and enforcement; reasonable restrictions; remedies under Article 32/226; writs (Habeas Corpus, Mandamus, Prohibition, Certiorari, Quo Warranto).
  • Directive Principles of State Policy & Fundamental Duties—relationship with Fundamental Rights; judicial trends.
  • High Courts & Supreme Court: jurisdiction, powers, appeals, PIL, SLP; role and functions of the Attorney General.
Paper II: CPC & CrPC (Govt. Office relevance)
  • Jurisdiction, institution of suits, pleadings, summons, appearance, discovery & inspection, interim orders, judgment & decree, execution.
  • Limitation, caveat, injunctions, appeals, revisions, references, reviews, restitution; representative suits and public nuisance.
  • CrPC structure — FIR, arrest, bail, charge sheet, cognizance, trial processes, compounding; powers of executive & judicial magistrates.
  • Provisions commonly referred to in Government offices—service of summons/notices, sanction for prosecution, Government as a party, limitation & condonation.
Paper III: Evidence, Limitation, Interpretation, Drafting & Conveyancing
  • Relevancy of facts, admissions/confessions, statements by persons who cannot be called as witnesses, dying declaration, burden of proof, presumptions, examination of witnesses, documentary and electronic evidence.
  • Limitation Act—periods, computation, acknowledgements, legal disability, condonation under Section 5.

How to Apply (Online)


  1. Read the Instructions for Applicants, detailed advertisement and service rules on RPSC website.
  2. Login at SSO PortalCitizen Apps (G2C)Recruitment Portal.
  3. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) using your Name, Father’s Name, DOB, Gender, Secondary/Equivalent exam details and Aadhaar details; upload required documents.
  4. For those with existing OTR, apply using your OTR Number from the Recruitment Portal.
  5. Ensure Aadhaar details (name, father’s name, DOB, gender) and photograph are correct before OTR; update Aadhaar/SSO profile if needed.
  6. Upload a live photograph (preview clarity before submitting), and upload signature and left thumb impression scans as instructed.
  7. Select the correct category/sub-category (e.g., GEN-WE, WD, DV, PwBD) accurately. Misrepresentation may lead to debarment.
  8. Indicate requirement of scribe/compensatory time in the application if eligible; otherwise the facility will not be provided.
  9. After successful submission, ensure you receive an Application Number. Preview alone does not mean submission.
  10. Keep a printout of the submitted application and monitor the Exam Dashboard on the RPSC website for updates. No separate letters will be issued.
Corrections: Within the application window and for 10 days after the last date, applicants may edit permissible fields by paying ₹500 online (except Name/Father’s Name/DOB/Gender/Secondary exam details/Aadhaar in OTR). An additional 7-day edit window will open up to 60 days before the first announced exam date for limited fields (not including name/father’s name/DOB/gender/photo). DV women may change category to DV within rules if decree is issued by the last date.

One-Time Registration (OTR) Fee & Absentee Policy


OTR Fee (as per circular dated 19.04.2023)
  • General (UR) / OBC (Creamy Layer) / MBC (Creamy Layer): ₹600
  • Reserved categories — SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/MBC (NCL)/EWS/Sahariya (Primitive Tribe): ₹400
  • PwBD: ₹400

Applicants from other States, irrespective of category, are treated as General (UR) for fee and reservation.

Absentee Blocking (circular dated 09.05.2025)
  • Absent in two recruitment exams in a financial year (01 Apr–31 Mar): online application facility will be blocked.
  • Unblock by paying ₹750. If absent in two more exams within the same FY, block is re-imposed.
  • Re-unblock thereafter by paying ₹1500.
  • If you Withdraw the application before the exam date during the official withdrawal window, it will not count as absence.

PwBD & Scribe/Compensatory Time – Special Instructions


  • Indicating PwBD and scribe option in the online form does not automatically entitle a candidate to a scribe. Follow the Commission’s detailed instructions and formats.
  • If bringing your own scribe: submit disability medical certificate, candidate & scribe undertaking, scribe photo ID, and educational proof to the Centre Superintendent at least 1 day before the exam.
  • If requesting a scribe from Commission/Centre: submit disability certificate and undertaking at least 2 days before the exam.
  • As per RPwD Act, 2016 Section 2(r), candidates with Blindness, Both Arms locomotor disability, or Cerebral Palsy may be granted a scribe on requisite certificates/undertakings. For other categories under Section 2(r), scribe/compensatory time is granted on submission of prescribed forms (Appendix-C) along with certificates.
  • For special cases under Section 2(s) (less than 40% disability) where writing is impaired, scribe/compensatory time may be granted upon submission of Appendix-D and required certificates to the Commission at least 2 days before the exam.

Do’s
  • Match Aadhaar/SSO profile details with academic records before OTR.
  • Upload a clear live photo; bring a recent dated photo to paste on the attendance sheet at the exam centre.
  • Keep proofs ready for category claims (e.g., WD/DV certificates, domicile, caste, EWS, PwBD).
  • Use withdrawal option if unable to appear; it will not count as absence.
  • Track Exam Dashboard on RPSC website for all updates.
Don’ts
  • Do not submit false information or apply without requisite eligibility — liable under BNS, 2023.
  • Do not expect reservation benefits without valid Rajasthan domicile (for SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen).
  • Do not wait till the last moment for corrections—₹500 per correction window applies.
  • Do not assume scribe facility without following the prescribed process and deadlines.
